How to Make Onions into Onion Rings?

Since onion rings are very popular, many companies plan to develop onion processing projects. But how to make onions into rings? What equipment is needed to make onion rings? Here we will introduce some of them to you:
onion rings

1. Selection
The first step in producing high-quality onion rings is to select fresh, uniform-sized onions. Factories usually use automated sorting equipment to remove poor-quality onions.

2. Root cutting and peeling
Root cutting: The onions are passed through an automatic root cutting machine to accurately remove the roots and tops of the onions for subsequent processing.
Peeling: Use a professional onion peeling machine to remove the onion skin. Modern equipment usually peels the onions through high-speed airflow or mechanical friction, which is both efficient and minimizes damage to the onions.

3. Slicing
The peeled onions are conveyed to the slicer and cut into uniform round slices by the set knife. The thickness of the slices is usually adjusted according to production needs, usually between 5-8 mm, to ensure the taste and crispness of the onion rings after frying. After slicing, the onions are separated to separate each ring for subsequent processing.

4. Coating
The coating process of onion rings is one of the key steps, which directly affects the flavor and appearance of the product.
Coating: The onion rings are evenly coated with a layer of dry powder (usually a mixture of flour, corn starch, and seasonings). In order to increase the adhesion of the powder, some processes will perform a wet paste treatment before the dry powder, that is, first immerse the onion rings in the prepared slurry, and then coat them with dry powder.

5. Frying
The onion rings after being coated with flour are sent to the frying equipment for processing.
Temperature control: The frying temperature is usually controlled between 170°C and 190°C, and the time is about 1-3 minutes.
Frying effect: High temperature frying makes the outer layer of flour crispy, while locking the moisture inside the onion, so that it maintains a soft and tender taste.
Degreasing: After being fried, the onion rings are passed through the degreasing machine to remove excess oil, which not only ensures the taste but also reduces the greasy feeling.
